Pia Murphy (b. 1981, Australia) works intuitively, moulding hand-made ceramics which celebrate animal and human life in abstract forms.Murphy uses the malleability of the material and the uncertainty in the transformative firing process to breath emotion into her characters. Pia graduated from Victorian College of the Arts with a BA Fine Arts (Printmaking) in 2004. Murphy has exhibited at C3 Contemporary Art Space, Chapter House Lane, Pieces of Eight Gallery, St. Heliers Street Gallery, Campbelltown Arts Centre and Karen Woodbury Gallery.
