Lani Seligman’s September show, ‘Yes, but’ is extra intriguing given the wedding traffic which passes the installation. When vows are taken the assumption is they’re pronounced in good faith, with conviction, that ‘Yes’ means yes; that yes, I will love you and support you ’til death do us part. But with pre-nups and other contractual obligations on the rise, at what point do we admit to a propensity toward the conditional, ‘but’?
