In July artist Alasdair McLuckie will present a new body of work tailored to Chapter House Lane’s unique space.
Delving into the dynamics of desire and the ‘other’, McLuckie’s work calls upon both the traditions of modernism and tribalism, culminating in a style that is wholly his own. This exhibition will explore his lingering preoccupation with these artistic movements, re-imagining ideas of mythology and ritual through his strong formal aesthetic, bold colours and detailed materiality.
McLuckie lives in Melbourne, and his artwork has been included in several major exhibitions including Melbourne Now (2014) at the National Gallery Victoria and Monanism (2011) at MONA. He was awarded the Primavera Veolia Acquisitive Award in 2011 and the Art & Australia Credit Suisse Private Banking Contemporary Art Award in 2012. He is represented by Murray White. Find out more about the artist on his website.
Opening: Thursday 2 July, 6–8pm
